Here’s my quick, easy and special treat for that special Valentine person – Cheesy beef and lamb meatballs with pasta.
I've used chopped baby spinach instead of fresh herbs and the colourful red peppers are sweet and juicy, just like your loved one!
Sweet and juicy roasted red peppers
If I had to choose my favourite breakfast for a cold winter’s day it has to be warming chocolate and berry porridge! Delicious and easy and one everyone, especially children will fall in love with.
Simply follow the instructions on a packet of oats. Once the porridge begins to bubble is when it starts to get interesting. Stir in your favourite extracts, perhaps vanilla or almond, and sweeten with honey.

Have you seen the new Middle-Eastern restaurant in Harpenden?
We went into the Vine Leaves for a quick cup of coffee whilst we waited for the shops to open and couldn't resist the menu. I had a delicious dish of baked eggs in a vegetable based sauce and hubby had a spicy Syrian sausage wrap with chick peas and a tomato relish.
Wonderfully finished off with a cardamom coffee. Reeeeally nice.
The welcome was warm and the service quick.
One more good reason to go weekend shopping!

I’m still dreaming of our late lunch at the family-run Fusion Brasserie in Worcester, luscious food, good company and the most enjoyable afternoon!
Good friend and top Italian chef Felice Tocchini welcomed us with champagne and his usual warm smile.
First a double starter of roast onion stuffed with creamy sweet potato and smoked haddock (I can almost taste it now) and, an absolute favourite of mine… ceviche, all ...
With Christmas round the corner, I’d like to share the perfect plantain idea to treat your guests - plantain mince tarts. A mouth-watering alternative to mince pies, especially if like me you prefer them not too sweet! These tarts are soft and crumbly with just the right amount of fruity centre. Try to imagine ripe plantain, cored and stuffed with mincemeat in a crumbly pastry boat. I love serving them warm like little islands floating in a sea of custard.

Hands up who doesn’t like chocolate. Yep, thought so, not a hand to be seen. Let’s try a different one – who doesn’t like truffles? Yep, same answer… and same as me.
When it comes to truffles, I simply can’t resist (and in my world there is no such thing as just one truffle).
My all-time favourite indulgence has to be plantain chocolate truffles.

A rich caramelised biscuit-crumb base with a sumptuous sweet potato filling and indulgently topped with a decadent marshmallow meringue.
Thanks to Rene Rogers of Brook Street in St Albans for sharing this scrummy Thanksgiving sweet potato pie.
I was lucky enough to be asked to be a 'Mary Berry' for the day to judge the Brook Street Bake-Off. There were so many delicious treats, I was spoilt and spoilt for choice, and after much tasting, licking of lips and second ...
Kofi Brokeman is the affectionate name for grilled plantain in Ghana, so-called because when you are broke it’s one of the cheapest snacks, yet packed with goodness and taste. My mouth is already watering…
Soft and naturally sweet, it’s a perfect partner for ice-cream and fun to decorate with kids.
Make the grilled plantain into a circle, put the ice-cream snowman inside, put it on the table with some sweets and decorations and let your imagination loose. A wonderful Christmas ...
